Car2go continues expansion in North America July 2012
Car2go North America LLC will expand its car sharing operations in Canada and the United States this summer. Members will have access to 1,300 fuel-efficient smart fortwo cars in all car2go cities within the United States. Car2go will start operations in Calgary on July 21 and in Miami, Florida on July 28, its Toronto program launched on June 30.“We are proud to continue our expansion of car2go throughout Canada and the United States this summer,” said Nicholas Cole, president and CEO of car2go North America. “Soon, the cities of Toronto, Calgary and Miami will have access to the unprecedented flexibility and convenience of the car2go way of car sharing.”

The Daimler North American Corporation owns car2go, which began service in Ulm, Germany in November of 2008. It is currently operational in Austin Texas, Portland, Washington D.C., Vancouver, Vienna, Berlin, and Lyon, France. There are currently more than 50,000 car2go members in North America and more than 120,000 car2go members worldwide. Globally, more than two million trips have been taken in a car2go since its inception in 2008.
“As car2go continues to grow and spread its car sharing business throughout North America and throughout the world, more people will have access to an entirely new form of automobility,” said Bodo Uebber, member of the Board of Management at Daimler AG and chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler Financial Services, the division at Daimler responsible for car2go.
“Step by step, we are making it possible for our members to have access to a car2go in every car2go city worldwide,” said Cole. “As we continue to expand into more cities within the United States and around the world, we are working to make car sharing more flexible for our members.”
