About the Workshop (Start Here)

No. Colleges planning future EV programs are encouraged to participate.

Yes. Both are required for workshop completion and to receive the scholarship payment.

NAFTC members BridgeValley Community & Technical College, New River Community & Technical College, Rio Hondo College, Wake Technical College, Weber State University, and the University of Northwestern Ohio developed these recommendations. WVU NAFTC coordinated the effort.

No. NAFTC is not an accrediting body. NAFTC develops recommendations aligned with ASE Education Foundation standards.

This material was supported by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation, Vehicle Technologies Office, Award DE-EE0010114, and was developed by WVU NAFTC, its members, and the WVU Institute for Sustainability and Energy Research.

About 17 to 20 hours total: about 7 hours for Weber State EV Phase I training, 8 hours for the In-person Experience, 2 hours for the NAFTC recommendations segment, and 3 hours for the bonus modules.

Applying to the Workshop

Use the APPLY section and complete the form in one sitting. If the form is not submitted within 15 minutes, answers are not saved.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but applying by June 9 is strongly recommended.

Only if you want the scholarship check mailed to your home address.

Applications are evaluated for eligibility, location preference, geographic distribution, and available seats. Acceptances are limited to two people per institution.

Up to 72 applications may be accepted depending on in-person host capacity.

If you did not select a second choice or the waitlist, your application may be denied.

After three full business days (M–F, 9–5 ET), contact NAFTC via the Contact section for a status update.

Accepted to the Workshop

Check your acceptance email for instructions or visit the Accepted Participants section for workshop steps.

Yes. Contact NAFTC through the Contact section to request another copy.

Yes. Withdrawing will make you ineligible for the scholarship and may mean you do not recover out-of-pocket expenses. Contact NAFTC if you have extenuating circumstances.

Expect the Weber State EV Phase I training fee ($375) plus travel expenses to the in-person experience location.

Completing the Workshop

Your scholarship may be forfeited. Contact NAFTC immediately if you have a significant extenuating circumstance.

No. Bonus modules are optional and not required for the scholarship.

No. The live webinar is optional and not a scholarship requirement.

In-Person Experience Logistics

You will not be admitted to the training. If you believe you have a reasonable waiver request, contact NAFTC as described in the Contact section.

Yes. Complete the Weber State EV Phase I training and upload the Certificate of Completion to the NAFTC Learning Center before attending.

You must wear hard-toe, rubber-soled footwear, long sleeves, and long pants. No shorts are allowed. PPE is provided.

The site provides PPE, but you may bring insulated Class 0 rubber gloves and Z87.1-compliant eye protection if you prefer.

Yes. Contact NAFTC via the Contact section to request another confirmation email.

No. Plan to bring or purchase your own lunch.

Scholarship & Payments

Complete Workshop Steps 1–4 and email your W-9 form to NAFTC@mail.wvu.edu.

Download the W-9 form from the link provided on the application and contact pages.

WVU typically sends the check within 45 days once Steps 1–4 are completed and your W-9 is received.

Grant requirements from the U.S. Department of Energy require workshop completion before scholarship payment.

The check is sent to the address you provided in your application.

Late submissions may not be processed due to grant deadlines. Contact NAFTC as soon as possible.

If you have a significant extenuating circumstance, contact NAFTC immediately for assistance.

No. Learning Center accounts are free.

NAFTC Learning Center accounts remain active, but workshop access ends January 30, 2027.

Access to Weber State training is valid for six months from your registration date.

Yes. After completing the workshop, you will receive access to the accreditation recommendations report in the NAFTC Learning Center.

Important Dates

June 9: suggested application deadline; June 21 by 11:59 pm ET: upload the EV Phase I Certificate of Completion; June 26: one-day In-person Experience; September 15: complete the workshop and email your W-9 to NAFTC@mail.wvu.edu.
